Sail from Chania to three of Crete's most breathtaking coastal destinations on a single unforgettable day. Departure: Chania Old harbor
Menies beach, Imeri Gramvousa, Balos beach

Description

Renowned across the globe for its mesmerizing turquoise waters and distinctive pink-tinged sand, Balos is widely considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world — and arriving by private boat means you beat the crowds and enjoy it entirely on your own terms. As you approach by sea, the lagoon reveals itself gradually, the colors shifting from deep blue to vivid turquoise to the palest aquamarine, framing a shoreline unlike anything else in Greece.

Just across the shimmering water lies Gramvousa, an uninhabited island rich in pirate lore and Venetian history. Climb to the 16th-century fortress perched 137 metres above the natural harbor, snorkel around the semi-sunken wreck of the Dimitrios P, and take in panoramic views that stretch all the way to the horizon. Whether you are a history enthusiast, an underwater explorer or simply someone in search of a dramatic backdrop, Gramvousa delivers on every level.

Rounding out the journey is Menies, a secluded pebbled beach on Crete's northwest coast, protected as a Natura 2000 area and virtually unreachable by road. Swim in crystal-clear deep water, snorkel among a surprisingly lively marine ecosystem, explore the ruins of the ancient Roman temple and harbor of Diktinna — the primary sanctuary of the goddess Britomartis — or simply stretch out and let the landscape do the rest. The cliffs surrounding the beach shelter it from wind and waves, making it one of the most peaceful swimming spots on the island.

Departing from Chania's Old Port, your boat trip follows the rugged northwestern coastline of Crete, passing hidden coves and dramatic sea cliffs that most visitors never get to see. Snorkeling gear and fresh towels are provided on board, and depending on your chosen vessel, lunch and an open bar are included so you can focus entirely on the experience.

This is not a group tour. Every boat trip from Chania to Balos, Gramvousa and Menies is entirely private — your boat, your crew, your pace. Whether you are travelling as a couple, a family or a group of friends, the day is shaped around you.

Fast, sleek, and built for adventure, the Evripus 855 is one of the most capable RIBs on the water. Its powerful performance delivers the thrill of speed and the raw sensation of the open sea — wind, waves, and salt spray included. When it's time to slow down, comfortable onboard spaces make it just as easy to sit back, relax, and enjoy every moment of a private cruise in style.

Stops along the way

  • View of the golden sands and turquoise Mediterranean Sea at Menies Beach, located in Crete.

    Menies beach

Menies Beach, located on the northeastern tip of Chania on the Spatha Peninsula, is a remote and unspoiled paradise known for its crystal-clear jade waters and pebbled shoreline. Accessible via a rough dirt road or by boat from Kolymbari, this secluded cove sits near the ruins of the ancient city of Diktynna and its temple to the goddess Artemis — making it as historically fascinating as it is naturally beautiful.

  • Turquoise lagoon and white sandy beach at Balos, western Crete

    Imeri Gramvousa

A dramatic island fortress near Balos, crowned by a Venetian citadel, with a shipwreck on its shore and a history of piracy that made it one of the most notorious havens in the eastern Mediterranean.

  • Vast view of the turquoise lagoon and bright white sandy beach at Balos, western Crete

    Balos beach

Balos Beach, located on the northwest coast of Crete near Chania, is one of the island's most iconic natural wonders. Known for its exotic turquoise lagoon, soft pink-white sand, and shallow crystal-clear waters, this extraordinary destination feels more like a tropical paradise than a Greek island beach. Whether you arrive by boat from Kissamos or hike down from the Gramvousa Peninsula, the first sight of Balos is genuinely unforgettable.

This trip from Chania to Balos was an absolute dream, and we spent every minute soaking up the stunning scenery! The turquoise water around Gramvousa and Menies was unreal, and the snorkeling was perfect—I found incredible sea life near the rocks. We loved the day, though the boat trip felt a little rushed when moving between all the beautiful spots. Still, the crew was fantastic, and the lunch served on board was delicious, making it a truly memorable taste of Crete.
